As we continue to champion the growth and success of women-owned businesses, it's important to address a persistent issue: the misconception that leadership is gender-specific. Too often, when society thinks of leaders, it envisions a man at the helm. But the truth is, leadership knows no gender. Our community is filled with extraordinary women who are not just leaders but are redefining what it means to lead. Their stories inspire hope and a brighter future for gender equality in leadership.

These women are not just breaking barriers—they're creating herstory every day by embodying and sometimes reshaping the qualities that define authentic leadership: vision, resilience, empathy and innovation.

But how do we effectively debunk the myths and practices that contribute to an underserved population? The key is to start by amplifying the voices and stories of women leaders. We need to showcase their successes, highlight their journeys and ensure that their experiences become the norm, not the exception.

My goal as the President and CEO of GWBC is to challenge outdated stereotypes and inspire the next generation to see leadership as a role for anyone with the passion and skills to make a difference—regardless of gender. The GWBC team is unwavering in our commitment to making the presence of women leaders a common theme and a universal experience.
