I hope you and your family enjoyed the 4th of July Holiday. As we reflect on the meaning of Independence Day, let’s remember this day marks the birth of a nation built on the principles of freedom, opportunity and unity for all, creating a place of endless possibilities that come from a diverse and inclusive society.
At GWBC®, our mission to advocate for women-owned and minority-owned businesses is on par with the ideals celebrated on Independence Day. The story of America is one of resilience, determination and the relentless pursuit of dreams, much like the journeys of immigrants and refugees as well as the entrepreneurs and business leaders we support.
We recognize and honor the contributions of immigrants and naturalized citizens and, in fact, becoming a certified WBE does not require the business owners to be a U.S. citizen. These individuals have chosen to embrace the American dream, bringing with them unique perspectives, talents and perseverance. Their entrepreneurial endeavors enrich our communities, drive economic growth, provide employment and foster innovation. As naturalized citizens, they embody the essence of what it means to be American - embracing diversity, overcoming challenges and striving for excellence.
Our commitment to supporting women-owned and minority-owned businesses is not just about economic empowerment; it’s about creating a society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. This Independence Day, let us celebrate the progress we have made and recommit ourselves to the work that still lies ahead. We must continue to break down barriers, create equitable opportunities and ensure that the promise of America is accessible to all, regardless of gender, race or national origin.
As we enjoy the festivities, let us also remember that our strength as a nation lies in our unity. The diverse backgrounds, cultures and experiences that make up the fabric of our country is what truly makes us great. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our mission. May you have a safe and inspiring rest of the summer.
Always in your service,
Roz Lewis
