As we celebrate Women’s Equality Day on August 26, which honors the 19th amendment granting women the right to vote, we should also highlight the significant progress women have made in the labor market. For more than 125 years, the working women have experienced significant progress. Despite limited opportunities and ever-increasing barriers, women have continuously broken through glass ceilings, making substantial strides in a range of industries. Women were seen in society  as homemakers and caretakers, however, according to Redkap, women started to experience some real changes in the workplace in the 70s.

Today, women are not only thriving as employees, but are starting their own businesses and becoming employers themselves. In fact, according to TIME magazine, in late 2019 and early 2020, for the first time, U.S. women held the majority of overall jobs (not including farming and self-employment) at 50.04%. This monumental progress is a testament to the resilience and dedication and hard-working women everywhere. Despite these advancements, the double role of professional and caregiver remains a reality for many women. The expectation to perform exceptionally at work while managing the household can be overwhelming, leading to stress and burnout. It remains crucial to prioritize our own self-care and work towards a healthy work-life balance. That, of course, can be easier said than done!

As we enter the back-to-school season, many women find themselves adjusting to new routines, balancing professional responsibilities with the needs of their families. At GWBC®, we understand the unique challenges that come with this transition, and we’re committed to supporting women in achieving their full potential both professionally and personally. We offer resources, workshops and networking opportunities designed to empower women to succeed in all areas of their lives. Continue reading below to learn about our transformative programs like the Accelerate series, the Mentor-Protégé program and Mornings with GWBC® as well as events like the Power of Partnering (POP) and the LACE Awards.

During this transitional time of year, let us remember the incredible progress we have made as women and the importance of maintaining our well-being. By prioritizing self-care and work-life balance, we can continue to break barriers and achieve our goals.
