Power of Partnering Marketplace (POP) is an annual conference in Atlanta bringing together hundreds of women entrepreneurs, business leaders, corporations and procurement professionals. This two-day conference delivers valuable connections, training, innovative thinking and takeaways designed to help you reach your procurement and business goals.

Day One – Aug. 26th, 2019:

The 2019 POP Marketplace Golf Tournament will be held at the Country Club of the South. Participants will enjoy a day of business leisure and networking!

Workshop Speaker: Andy Fried — Accounting & Finance Consultant - UGA Small Business Development Center, Kennesaw Office

Andy Fried has over twenty-five years experience in the financial, retail and real estate sectors. He began his career as a CPA with Laventhol and Horwath in New York. In 1984, Mr. Fried became owner and President of a retail business with locations throughout the New York tri-state area. Andy sold his retail interests and moved to Atlanta where he became an owner, manager and agent of commercial real estate properties. Since 2007, Andy has provided guidance and assistance to the small business community as a business consultant at the University of Georgia Small Business Development.

Her retail brand, NouriTress Perfect Hair Products has graced the shelves of major retail stores such as Walmart, Walgreens, Sally Beauty Supply,

J.C.Penney, Target and in select grocery store chains and beauty supply stores. Her NouriTress Professional Salon division products are distributed to professional hair salons and Beauty Schools across the USA. NouriTress also has international distribution in countries such as Canada, UK & Africa.

Sonya D. Cunningham is the Sr. Supplier Diversity Administrator for CB Richard Ellis (CBRE). She is responsible for strategy development, supply chain partnering, relationship management and MWDVBLGBTE outreach and engagement on the Bank of America account. Sonya’s primary role is to identify and assist in the development of quality Minority, Woman, Veteran, Disabled Veteran and LGBT-owned businesses, assess the diverse needs and objectives within the organization, develop and implement programs, tools and events that market the value of supplier diversity, and measure and track business opportunities secured by Minority, Woman, Veteran, Disabled Veteran and LGBT-owned businesses.

Dr. Nika White is a national authority and fearless advocate for diversity, inclusion, and equity. As an award-winning management and leadership consultant, keynote speaker, published author, and executive practitioner for D&I efforts across business, government, non-profit and education, Dr. White helps organizations break barriers and integrate diversity into their business frameworks.

Over her 20 years of leadership, Dr. White has worked with over 80 corporate, educational, government and non-profit brands, managed over $200 million in business assets for her clients, and written two books on diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has presented over 125 keynote speeches and presentations across the country on issues such as team engagement, organizational leadership, strategic diversity, and intentional inclusion. Dr. White’s talks bring a mixture of expertise, passion, vision, and authentic style to create holistic takeaways for audiences.

Workshop Speaker: Becky Davis - Certified Executive Coach, The Leadership Circle

Chief BOSSpreneur Becky A. Davis is known as the “Entrepreneur’s Secret Weapon” for her straight-forward coaching skills that develop individuals into well-rounded business owners. Becky is a member of the prestigious Forbes Magazine Coaches Council, private coach for the ultra-exclusive Odyssey Media Company for 6 years, Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit Executive Coach and national entrepreneur spokesperson for The Coca-Cola Company. Becky is one of the most in-demand experts for small businesses and leadership.

Becky is a Certified Executive Coach of The Leadership Circle. She is also certified by Gallup for the Entrepreneur Talent Profile Assessment/Coach and a certified facilitator of the Discover Your Entrepreneur Talent Workshop and continues to work with the best and brightest aspiring and veteran entrepreneurs around the world. She hosts, workshops, teleseminars, webinars, masterminds, and private coaching to women entrepreneurs all over the world. She created a program for HBCU’s for The Coca-Cola Company’s initiative to help serve aspiring entrepreneurs, which aligns with her heart's purpose and mission to empower entrepreneurs. She is the founder of the Bosspreneur® Business Circle an online and in person networking platform for women entrepreneurs with a mission to be the global leader in women business to women business (WB2WB) partnerships and transactions.

Workshop Speaker: M.Melinda Pitts - Director, Center of Human Capital Studies, The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta

M. Melinda Pitts is the research center director of the Her major fields of study are health and labor economics. Dr. Pitts also contributes to the Atlanta Fed's macroblog, which provides commentary on economic topics, including monetary policy, macroeconomic developments, and the Southeast economy. Prior to joining the Bank in 2002, Dr. Pitts was an assistant professor of economics at Georgia State University, in Atlanta. Dr. Pitts has published in several journals, including the American Economic Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, Archives of Internal Medicine, and Research in Labor Economics. Dr. Pitts received her doctorate in economics in 1997 and her master's degree in economics in 1993, both from North Carolina State University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1987 from Clemson University.

Workshop Speaker: Raj Verma - Vice President Procurement Services, GoProcure

Raj Verman is an Executive leader known for providing strategic solutions to procurement/supply chain organizations. He has over 25 years of experience in procurement, sourcing and Supply Chain. Currently, leading GoProcure’s Diversity Solutions for Fortune 500 firms along with Tail Spend Management, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement transformation. Prior to GoProcure, he helped launch Metaprocure successful MSP brand. Prior to Metaprocure, Raj led Global Sourcing & Logistics programs for GE Power in Atlanta.

He is the Chairperson for the Georgia Business Process Management Board, sits on leadership committee for TAG(technology Association of Georgia). Serves on Chick-Fil A college football committee board. He has Master Black Belt certification from GE. He has an MBA from University of Florida and a BS from Michigan State University.

Meet the Buyer

One of the main highlights of the POP Marketplace Conference is the featured procurement opportunity for certified WBEs. We are providing an opportunity for our WBEs to sit and have a conversation with a major corporation with capacity for partnership or to discuss Best Practices in order to build a partnership with the corporate. Participants get 5 minutes at a table with 6 fellow WBEs and 1 corporate buyer to share their business stories. Our goal is to continue providing an environment that raises the bar on Strategic Sourcing and Sustainability.

MatchMaker

Another POP Marketplace Conference procurement opportunity is the Match Maker Sessions. We are committed to matching our certified WBEs with companies who have a specific opportunity in the pipeline and require a specific commodity or service. During these intentionally matched, 10-minute sessions with a Buyer, certified WBEs are given the opportunity to discuss the very specific needs of the corporation. Our goal is to create a powerhouse of opportunities for constituents and further increase corporate engagement.
